Dancing On1, Dancing On2 dilemma!

Much controversy exists regarding how to dance Salsa.
On1 dancers and On2 dancers continually bicker about which way is better, each group insisting that their way is correct. However, to achieve greatness, one must dance without counting, not On1 or On2, but On The Clave, by learning to hear, identify and use it in the dance.
On1 dancers dance outside the music. On2 dancers dance on top of the music. Clave dancers dance inside the music, which gives the dance a completely different flavor.

Cuban Pete

There are three types of dancers!

First, there are the ones that consider dancing a type of gymnastics exercise.
Second, the ones that, through concentrating their mind, bring their body to the rhythm of the desired emotion, thus expressing the feeling or experience they remember and the
Third, who turn their bodies into the light fluid, surrendering themselves to the inspiration of their own soul.”

Isadora Duncan

'El Cajon' Origin. The black peruvian slaves simply used boxes as musical instruments to combat contemporary Spanish colonial bans on music in predominantly African areas. In this way, cajóns could easily be disguised as seats or stools, thus avoiding identification as musical instruments. THE 'PALLADIUM' HISTORY OF A MOST PROMINENT DANCE HALL ( NY CITY ) Part 1

As with many New York institutions, El Palladium bore a great cultural and sociological significance during its reign, appealing to those of all ages and backgrounds far beyond its principal audience of metropolitan Latin Americans. It too claimed at its patrons the wealthy and famous; Harry Belafonte, Carol Channing, Marlon Brando were just several seen in regular attendance, although decidedly never seated in the same section as casual spectators or the general proletariat population. The same rule applied to notorious figures who enjoyed the same regard as El Palladium as celebrities and socialites.

Bachata is a musical form little known outside the Dominican Republic until sometime in the 1960s. As music of the poorer, lower classes, it was hidden; a 'bachatero' was stigmatized by negative stereotype and even the music's audience took pains to hide their appreciation of the form.
